Dates, relative times (“5 minutes ago”), UTM/fbclid/gclid parameters and whitespace are normalized before hashing, so tracking noise never fires a false alert.

Straight answers about privacy and access
The boring questions matter most for a tool that runs in your browser.
Do the extensions run in the background or read my browsing?
No. Both extensions use only activeTab with on-demand injection: code runs on a page only when you trigger an audit or pick an element to monitor. There is no background content script scanning your traffic, and no browsing history is collected. The monitor's cloud checks fetch only the specific URLs you explicitly added.
What happens when Manifest V2 stops working?
Pagelens is built on Manifest V3 from day one — the current and only supported extension platform. If you're migrating an old MV2 workflow, the audit side panel and monitor cover the same ground without a compatibility layer.
Do I need an account to use it?
No account is needed for free-tier audits and local monitoring. An account is only created when you sign in to unlock a paid tier or to sync monitored pages for cloud checks — and that uses a magic link, no password to lose.
What if I'm offline or traveling?
Paid licenses carry a 7-day offline grace period. If your device can't reach the license server for up to a week, Pro features keep working. After that they quietly drop to Free until you're back online — nothing breaks.
How many devices can use one license?
Up to 3 active devices on Pro, 2 on Starter. If you hit the limit, the device management page lets you sign out of an old machine yourself — no support ticket needed.
How is payment handled?
Subscriptions go through Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle handles checkout, VAT/GST/sales tax worldwide and renewals — we never see or store your card details. Cancel any time from the billing link in your receipt.
