Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-09-17

Pagelens is a set of browser extensions (“the Extensions”) and a cloud service (“the Service”) operated by an independent developer. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and — more usefully — what we do not collect.

The short version

  • We do not record your browsing history or scan pages in the background.
  • Our code runs on a page only when you take an action — opening the audit panel or picking an element to monitor.
  • We collect the minimum needed to make a license work: an email address if you sign in, and an anonymous device identifier.
  • We never sell data, and we never use it to build a profile for advertising.

1. Data the Extensions process locally

When you trigger an audit on a page, the page's HTML is parsed entirely inside your browser to produce the report. The robots.txt and llms.txt of the site you are auditing are fetched by your browser from that site itself. Audit results are shown to you and, if you are signed in, may be stored so you can revisit them. Unless you are signed in, no audit result leaves your device.

When you pick an element to monitor, a CSS selector is generated locally and stored locally. The element's text content is normalized and hashed before comparison, and the underlying raw page content is not retained beyond what is needed to compute the change.

2. Data we collect when you sign in or pay

  • Email address — used to send a magic-link sign-in, receipts, and monitoring alerts. We do not send marketing email to an address that has not opted in.
  • Anonymous device identifier — a random value generated on install, used to enforce the device limit on your license. It is not derived from hardware serials, MAC addresses, or browser fingerprinting.
  • Monitored URLs and their change history — stored only for the monitors you explicitly created, and only for the purpose of detecting and reporting changes.

Payment details are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record. We receive subscription status and a customer identifier from Paddle; we never receive or store your full card number.

3. What we do not collect

  • Browsing history, URLs of pages you did not add as a monitor, or search queries.
  • Page content beyond the specific element or page you explicitly asked to monitor.
  • Hardware identifiers, MAC addresses, canvas fingerprints, or advertising identifiers.
  • Keystrokes, form input, clipboard contents, or anything from pages other than when you take an explicit action.

4. How cloud monitoring works

Monitors you add can be checked from the cloud so alerts arrive even when your browser is closed. Those checks fetch only the URLs you added, on the schedule set by your tier. Fetching happens on serverless infrastructure in the region closest to the target site. If you would rather nothing left your device, keep monitors in local mode — they will be checked only while your browser is open.

5. Limited Use certification

Our use of any data covered by the Chrome Web Store Limited Use requirements complies with that policy: personal data is not sold, is not transferred except as necessary to provide the feature, and is not used for purposes unrelated to the Extensions' single purpose.

6. Third-party services

  • Paddle — billing and tax handling. Governed by Paddle's privacy policy.
  • Email delivery — used to send transactional and alert email. We see delivery status, not message content beyond what we sent.
  • Cloudflare — hosts the Service. Governed by Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Where we recommend third-party tools, links are affiliate links that open on your explicit click. The third party's privacy policy governs what they collect after you leave us.

7. Data retention

Monitors and their change history are kept while your account is active and deleted within 30 days of account closure. Audit reports you choose to save are kept until you delete them. Device identifiers are removed when a device is signed out or its license lapses.

8. Your rights

You can request export or deletion of your data at any time by emailing support@pagelens.632145.xyz. No request requires a reason, and we respond within 30 days. Deleting your account removes monitors, saved reports, and device bindings.

9. Children's privacy

The Extensions are not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we will remove the account.

10. Changes to this policy

Material changes are announced in the Extensions and on this page at least 14 days before they take effect. The date above reflects the most recent revision.
